How The O-Nozzle System Works Differently Than Fixed Nozzles

The O-Nozzle is a revolutionary spray nozzle that operates differently than any previous method of applying liquid mixtures from a moving vehicle to road and highway surfaces. It solves all the shortcomings inherent in fixed orifice nozzle systems. For the first time, application specifications can be met.

Anti-Icing/De-Icing O-Nozzle System Requirements

1- Ground Speed Sensor
1-Electronic Flow Controller
1- Solution Pump
1-Flow Control Valve
1-Flow Meter
Up to 3 Lane Control Valves
4 Solid Stream O-Nozzles per lane

How Does It Work?

1. Operator sets specified GPLM at controller in cab.
2. Sensor feeds ground speed to controller.
3. Controller modulates flow control valve to desired rate as speed varies.
4. Flowmeter measures rate delivered.
5. Pump varies pressure as needed.
6. O-Nozzles vary orifice as flow and pressure changes.

    Operating Results:

  • 10-60 GPLM from stop sign to 50 MPH.*
  • Instant response as vehicle starts and stops.
  • No over/under alarm needed.
  • Cohesive spray stream travels out of vehicle wind vortexes.
  • Zero Velocity spray lands softly where aimed without dispersion fogging caused by forward speed of truck.
  • No skips, drips, puddles or pools.
  • Road and highway wintertime safety significantly improved.

*Note that much higher GPLM rates can be selected, i.e. 120 GPLM@25 MPH, 240 GPLM@12 MPH, 480GPLM @6 MPH. This can be useful for severe icing conditions, dust control, etc.

Advantages for Manufacturers & Owners:

  • Only nozzle system capable of meeting performance specifications.
  • Uses just 4 nozzles per lane.
  • Uses 2 simple mounting brackets for spraying up to 3 lanes - no wet booms required.
  • Least expensive system to build and install.
